AMMA Athlete Ranking System

Chapter 1: General Overview

The AMMA Athlete Ranking System standardizes the management of athlete performance and encourages outstanding athletes to participate in high-level Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) competitions organized or sanctioned by AMMA.

This document details how points are assigned to registered athletes from each Member country/region to determine their overall ranking within their weight class based on their placement at AMMA events.

Chapter 2: Fundamental Principles

  1. Athletes may obtain points through the following methods:
    a. Participating in national/regional competitions, held by AMMA Member
countries/regions, using the AMMA Competition Rules and recognized or
    approved by AMMA.
    b. Participating in various subcontinental or zonal competitions recognized or
    approved by AMMA.
  2. AMMA reserves the right to determine the number of subcontinental or zonal competitions it will sanction or recognize each calendar year.
  3. If a weight category in an AMMA recognized/approved event has fewer than three (3) athletes competing; no points shall be awarded.
  4. Points accumulated by athletes reflect the individual athlete who has earned them and are non-transferrable.
  5. Points earned by an athlete in one weight category and format of competition (modern/traditional) cannot be transferred to another weight category and format. If an athlete decides to participate in a different weight category or format, the points
accumulated will not be tallied but will remain valid and separate.
  6. Points earned by athletes are valid for twenty-four (24) months after the date of each AMMA recognized event attended.
    a. 100% of an athletes’ points earned within the first twelve (12) months will be retained.
    b. Points earned after the twelve (12) months and before twenty-four (24) months will be halved and counted at          50%.
    c. Points will expire 24 months after the date of each AMMA recognized event.
  7. Points earned will be used to determine the eligibility of athletes to participate in the Multiple Sports Events (e.g. Asian Games).

Note: The NOCs/ National Federation of each AMMA Member country/region may
substitute eligible athletes for the abovementioned events only in the specific weight category
and format that their athletes have accumulated points in.
